Drs. K.F. Schuiling
Drs. Schuiling has been the mayor of the city of Groningen since the 30th of September 2019. Just like our members, he studied at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. From 1978 to 1984 he studied law and graduate administrative sciences. After his studies he worked, among other things, as a counselor and alderman. In 2010 he was appointed as mayor of Den Helder. In 2019 he returned to beautiful city of Groningen to fulfill the function of mayor here.

Prof. dr. H.W.G.M. Boddeke
Prof. dr. Boddeke is professor of Medical Physiology/Neurophysiology. From 1988 until 1995 he was head of a research laboratory and group leader at Sandoz and at Novartis Research in Basel, Switzerland. Since 1998 he is professor of Physiology at the UMCG. During the period 2000-2015 he was head of the Neuroscience Research department (UMCG) and from 2009 until 2015 director of the University of Groningen Neuroscience Research School BCN. His work focusses on glia and ageing and on neural stem cells. Since May 2015 he has been appointed as Dean of Research at the UMCG.

Prof. dr. G. Croiset
Prof. dr. G. Croiset is since Februari 2018 dean of education at the UMCG. Previously she worked at the University of Amsterdam (VUmc school of medical sciences) as member of the board. Prof. Dr. Croiset studied biology at the University of Utrecht. She obtained her PhD degree in neurosciences. Additionally she also completed medicine at the University of Utrecht. She stepped down as dean in November 2023.

Prof. dr. M. Joëls
Prof. dr. Joëls obtained her PhD degree in Utrecht in 1984. She carried out postdoctoral research at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla California. Between 1991 and 2009 she was appointed at the University of Amsterdam. In 2009 she was appointed as (full) professor of neuroscience in Utrecht and scientific director of Brain Center Rudolf Magnus. Since September 2016, she is professor of Neurobiology of Environmental Factors, and Dean / Board member of the UMCG.

Prof. dr. Kallenberg
Prof. Dr. Kallenberg is an academic lecturer on Internal Medicine, particularly in the field of Clinical Immunology. Besides this he is the president of GIPS-M. GIPS-M is the organization which advises motivated medical students on their Research Internship at international top institutes. During his medical studies in Leiden he was part of the board of M.F.L.S (the medical study association of Leiden), which is one of the reasons he is very fond of medical faculty associations.

Prof. dr. De Leij
Prof. Dr. De Leij studied biology/biochemistry in Groningen and got his PhD also in Groningen in 1979. He became appointed as assistant professor in 1986, associated professor in 1992 and full professor (in Medical Biology) in 1994. Prof. Dr. De Leij was Head of the Section Medical Biology from 1998 to 2010. From June 2005 to May 2015 he is Dean of Research of the UMCG and, from May 2009 on, Dean of the Groningen Graduate Schools.

Prof. dr. Mourits
Prof. Dr. Mourits studied medicine in Nijmegen and has been trained as a gynecologist in Groningen. Prof. Dr. Mourits is the head of the Gynecologic Oncology department of the UMCG and the main educator on Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Northern Educational and Research Region. She is a member of the organizing team of Learning Community Duurzame Zorg. In her research she focusses on hereditary gynecologic cancer. She has been named president of the Central Educational Committee UMCG in September 2014.

Drs. R.M. Bezema
Drs. Bezema has been the head of the Educational Institute of the UMCG from 2012 until 2020. This means that he is responsible for the organization and quality control of the medical and dentistry studies. The coorporation with students during his job is extensive and he finds this of great importance. As a member of the 'Raad van Toezicht en Advies', he helps the M.F.V. Panacea whenever she needs it.

Dr. E.J. Zonderland
Dr. Zonderland has started studying medicine in Groningen in 2002. Due to his outstanding prestations at the Olympic Games in 2012 he became the Olympic champion in gymnastics on the horizontal bar. In 2013, dhr. Zonderland was named Dutch Sportsman of the Year and on top of this, he was named Honorary Member of the M.F.A. Panacea in that year as well.  

Prof. Dr. C.Wijmenga
Prof. Dr. C. Wijmenga is Professor of Human Genetics at the University of Groningen and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). Since September 1, 2019 Rector magnificus of the University of Groningen, the first female Rector magnificus of the University of Groningen since its foundation.

Prof. dr. M.J. Schuurmans
Prof. dr. Schuurmans has been appointed dean of education at the UMCG since November 2023. Prior to this, she worked as Chief Healthcare Organization at the Dutch Healthcare Authority and as Director of Education at the UMC Utrecht. Prof. dr. Schuurmans studied nursing science in Maastricht and was appointed as a professor of Nursing Science at the UMC Utrecht.
